Job Announcement - 2 Positions:
- Seeking experienced event coordinator for One Less Car's 2010 Tour du Port bicycle tour. 10-20 hrs./week. Fund-raising, volunteer recruitment, professional communication and marketing skills and experience needed. Contact carol@onelesscar.org
- Seeking professional advocate to work on alternative transportation, bicycle and pedestrian issues by:
--positively and passionately representing OLC at various meetings such as the Mayors Bicycle Advisory Committee which meets in Baltimore and the Maryland Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (MBPAC) which meets in Hanover and more. Represent OLC at approximately 2-6 meetings per month.
--advocating for bike/ped safety legislation, scheduling and meeting with members of the Environmental Matters Committee/Transportation Sub-committee to promote legislation (will need to do this asap-most meetings will be in Annapolis), obtain sponsors and co-sponsors for bills (we already have sponsors for most bills);
--promoting bicycle education initiatives and more - ie. researching/verifying if bike/sports stores have received and are giving the required bike safety documents to folks purchasing a bike etc.
--Stay abreast of bike/ped initiatives on the state, county and local level.
Professional written and verbal communication skills are a must!
