Rides are on a "rolling start" to reduce congestion. Please determine your start time based on challenging terrain and your average speed to ensure that you arrive at the celebration/lunch area between 11 and 1:00pm:
63 mile ride — 7:00 - 7:30 am
35 mile ride — 8:30 - 9:30 am
15 mile ride — 9:30 - 10:00 am
3.6 mile run — 10:30
Even those who choose not to ride or run! Bring your friends and family out on September 22nd to Spring Meadow Farm for a delicious lunch.
Larry’s Ride and Run is a Bike Maryland fund raising event to raise awareness of bicyclists and bicycle safety issues. On April 6th, 2010, Larry Bensky was tragically killed while riding his bike on Butler Road, near Falls Road in Baltimore County. This event was created by his wife, Tami Bensky, and a group of Larry’s friends to remember and honor Larry’s life while bringing attention to the need for increased driver awareness on our roads. All are welcome to join in supporting this great cause.
Proceeds directly advance the advocacy efforts of Bike Maryland, a non-profit dedicated to promoting bicycling, increasing safety, improving conditions and providing a voice for all bicyclists in Maryland. In the past two years, we successfully worked to pass 7 pro-bike and alternative transportation bills, all of which protect your right to bike and to bike safety. In 2011, the manslaughter by vehicle bill passed - a huge victory for Maryland’s bicyclists and pedestrians. Attending Larry’s Ride & Run directly supports this mission!
